Xiongan New Area in Hebei province on Sept 20 launched the construction of three schools and a hospital, all to be fully funded and built by the Beijing municipal government. They are part of the efforts by the Beijing municipal government to help with the development and public services of China's "city of the future."

The three schools are the Xiongan branches of Beijing BeiHai Kindergarten, Beijing Shi-Jia Primary School, and Beijing No 4 High School. Together they would provide the complete K-12 education, covering all the way from kindergarten to high school. The hospital is the Xiongan branch of Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University.

According to a Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform official, improving public service is a big priority for better serving the local residents in Xiongan and enabling the area to better undertake the non-capital functions from Beijing. The city official added that the four projects are the first batch of public service projects in Xiongan with more coming in the future.

The projects will be carried out in the "turnkey" mode, meaning Beijing will be fully responsible for funding and construction. Once completed, the management of the schools and the hospital will be supervised by Xiongan.

The kindergarten will finish construction in the latter half of 2020, the primary and high school in the latter half of 2021, and the hospital by the end of 2022, according to the construction plan.
