The digital art collective teamLab is building its second world art museum in Shanghai, which is expected to open in November.
The teamLab Borderless Shanghai, covering 6,600 square meters, will showcase about 50 digital artworks in Huangpu District. Some of the exhibitions are expected to make their world debut in Shanghai.
Founded in 2001, teamLab is an interdisciplinary art collective made up of technical experts specializing in simulating natural landscapes with technologies and creating beautiful light and shadow spaces.
TeamLab's first art museum opened in Tokyo in 2018, which soon become one of the world's most popular art museums, welcoming millions of visitors.
Early this year, the art group held a five-month immersive digital exhibition in Shanghai named "teamLab: Universe of Water Particles in the Tank," attracting about 200,000 visitors.
