Shenyang receives over 93,000 new residents in 2019

Shenyang, capital of Northeast China’s Liaoning province, has launched a series of new policies to attract people to the city, particularly highly-skilled professionals.

The city’s efforts have proved fruitful. It currently has more than 7.52 million registered residents, 130,000 of which became residents in 2018.

During the first eight months of this year, 93,628 people have become permanent residents of Shenyang, an average of more than 10,000 per month.

Among the new residents, most are university graduates, technicians, high-tech workers, or highly-educated businesspeople.

Sun Gang, a Fushun native now residing in Shenyang, said that the city’s new policies make it easier for those who seek long-term development to settle down in the city.

As permanent residents of Shenyang, people will benefit from preferential policies when starting businesses or applying for loans, Sun said.
