One of the city’s major cultural landmarks, Tianjin Grand Theater (TGT) offers high-quality artistic services with high-end facilities. Designed by GMP, a prestigious German architectural company, the theater covers 10.5 hectares with a public waterside terrace, constituting a wonderful environment for open-air performances and displays.

There are four venues at the theater. The opera hall has 1,600 seats, an elevating orchestra pit and a principal stage fitted with three movable ones behind. Its super capacity also allows for stage plays and other large-scale activities. The venue for symphonies and Chinese folk music, the concert hall has 1,200 seats, an arena stage and an elevating platform for piano. A huge organ is installed on the wall behind the stage. Containing 400 movable seats, the small theater holds manifold performances, including experimental dramas, fashion shows, chamber music concerts, news conferences and meetings. The multifunction hall has the same seating capacity as the small theater and can be used as a rehearsal room and a venue for lectures, conferences and various performances.

The TGT also holds series of targeted activities to improve citizens’ art cultivation, such as children’s art camps, themed show seasons and public lectures.
