The China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone is one of the six pilot free trade zones approved by the State Council on Aug 26, 2019, bringing the total number of trade zones in China to 18.
Goal
By taking measures like deepening industrial restructuring and fully implementing the strategy of innovation-driven development, Jiangsu will take the lead in building an open economy, further develop the real economy and promote industrial transformation.
Scope of implementation
With an area of 119.97 square kilometers, it is divided into three parts -- Nanjing Area (a 39.55-square-kilometer district in Nanjing city), Suzhou Area (a 60.15-square-kilometer district in Suzhou city incorporating 5.28 square kilometers of the Suzhou Industrial Park Free Trade Zone) and Lianyungang Area (a 20.27-square-kilometer district in Lianyungang city, incorporating 2.44 square kilometers of the Lianyungang Free Trade Zone).
Division of functions
Nanjing Area(Nanjing Jiangbei New Area) is to be established as a pilot area of global influence for independent innovation, a demonstration area of modern industries and an important platform for opening-up and international cooperation.
Suzhou Area(Suzhou Industrial Park) is to be established as a world class high-tech zone, a highland of all-around opening-up, high-end industries and modern management as well as an innovation center meeting world standards.
Lianyungang Area will become a key international transport hub and a gateway to further opening-up, and will accelerate the construction of a high-quality Belt and Road intersection to enhance cooperation with countries and regions involved in the initiative.
