Pillar Industries

Heilongjiang has made great efforts to deepen the supply-side structural reform and foster new engines for economic growth. The province possesses diverse pillar industries, including new materials, green food, biopharmaceuticals, equipment manufacturing and tourism.

Green food industry

Grain output in the province ranks first in China; as do its planting area and harvests of non-GMO soybeans, japonica rice and corn. The green food base covers an area of 74 million mu (4.93 million hectares), accounting for one-third of the total planting area in the province. Revenue of food companies above designated size reached 361.77 billion yuan, and private enterprises were responsible for 81 percent of the total. The province has also seen the growth of a series of competitive firms that show revenue of over 10 billion yuan.
