The 21st China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF) will kick off on Oct 18 with an acrobatic theater production titled Battle of Shanghai.
Jointly created by the Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe and the Shanghai Circus School, the play tells a story about young revolutionaries on the eve of Shanghai's liberation.
According to the organizers, the festival will feature 97 theater performances, eight of which will be shown for the first time in the world.
The festival will conclude on Nov 17 with a concert at the Shanghai Grand Theatre by the NDR Radiophilharmonie that is conducted by Andrew Manze. The performance will also feature Chinese violinist Mengla Huang.
The festival will also consist of 12 exhibitions, including Retrospectrum, a showcase of Nobel Literature Prize-winning songwriter Bob Dylan and his creations. This exhibition will take place from Sep 28 to Jan 5 at the Modern Museum Shanghai.
A festival that has been well-received by international counterparts and institutions, the CSIAF will host nine symposiums during the trade fair which is a regular fixture of the festival every year. During this event, industry insiders will share their experience of introducing Chinese productions to overseas markets and vice versa.
