Home to a rapidly growing new-materials industry, Zhuhai will host the 4th China International Congress on Composite Materials (CCCM) at the International Convention & Exhibition Center from Nov 28 to 30.
The 3rd International Exhibition on Technological Innovations & Achievements of Composite Industry will be held at the Shizimen facility at the same time, the Chinese Society for Composite Materials announced in Beijing on Sept 9.
"New-materials technology, as the cornerstone of industrial science and technology, especially equipment manufacturing, leads the frontier of every era. We are willing to develop the new-materials industry, including composite materials," said an official of the Zhuhai government.
Jinwan District established a new-materials research institute last year to boost the development of aerospace, biomedicine, new-energy, and traditional competitive industries. In addition, the district has formed a comprehensive industrial support policy system and industrial pattern.
In 2018, the scale of the new-materials industry in Zhuhai was 30 billion yuan ($4.21 billion), and new-materials enterprises numbered about 500, of which a hundred are above designated size.
CCCM is considered the largest and highest-level conference for academic exchanges, as well as science and technology promotion in the field of composite materials in China. The exhibition integrates procurement, commercialization of research findings, industrial chain cooperation, technical exchanges, and investment and financing.
Themed "New Composite Materials, Path to the Future," this year's congress will adopt a "60+3+5" mode, which refers to 60 academic and industrial exchange sub-venues, three international exchange sub-venues, and five featured sub-venues.
Key-note lectures, academic exchanges, international networking, civil-military integration, exhibitions, symposia, and social activities are scheduled. More than 3,000 professionals will attend, according to Du Shanyi, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. To date, 13 members of Du's institution and the Chinese Academy of Sciences have signed up.
