Century Masters, a documentary series highlighting major figures in China's development, opens a new chapter on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
The upcoming project will focus on the lives of four 20th century TCM masters – Xiao Longyou, Shi Jinmo, Kong Bohua, Wang Fengchun.
It was announced at the launch ceremony this Tuesday in Beijing that there will be eight episodes, two per TCM master.
Government officials, representatives from national cultural research centers, China's medicine administration and families of the late physicians all attended the event.
Wang Guiping, president of Chinese pharmaceutical company Tong Ren Tang; Tu Zhitao, director of the Beijing Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Zhao Jie, executive producer of Century Master; Li Xiaolin, producer of Century Masters; Li Furen, TCM master; Xiao Chengcong, granddaughter of Xiao Longyou, and director Zhou Bing spoke about their expectations for the project.
The series will highlight not only doctors' art of healing, but also their moral achievements as pioneers and educators.
These doctors were the people who established the standard system of TCM and influenced a generation of medical practitioners in China.
