Goal

The China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone will build important nodes connecting South Asia and Southeast Asia and develop into a radiation center and open frontier for South Asia and Southeast Asia through cooperation with neighboring countries such as Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar.

Scope of implementation

With a total area of nearly 120 square kilometers, Yunnan's pilot FTZ covers parts of Kunming (76 sq km, including the Kunming Comprehensive Bonded Zone), the provincial capital, Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture (14.12 sq km), as well as Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture (29.74 sq km).

Division of functions

Kunming Area strengthens its joint development with the airport economic zone, focusing on the development of high-end manufacturing, aviation logistics, the digital and headquarters economies, and becoming an interconnected hub, information logistics center and cultural education center for South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Honghe Area strengthens its joint development with the Honghe Comprehensive Bonded Zone and the Mengzi Economic and Technological Development Zone, focusing on the development of processing and trade, health, cross-border tourism and cross-border e-commerce industries, and striving to create a processing and manufacturing base, a trade logistics center, and the China-Vietnam Economic Corridor Innovation Cooperation Demonstration Zone for ASEAN.

Dehong Area focuses on the development of cross-border e-commerce, cross-border capacity cooperation, and cross-border finance, becoming a gateway for the pilot opening-up area of the border and the China-Myanmar economic corridor.
