Zhanjiang in Guangdong province, Liuzhou in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, and cities in northern Hainan province held a tourism promotion conference at the 2019 China (Guangzhou) International Tourism Industry Expo on Aug 31.
Zhanjiang is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong with the longest coastline, the most islands, and the most acclaimed seafood. The north area of Hainan province, headed by Haikou, is an excellent representative of Hainan International Tourism Island. Liuzhou is a combination of mountains and waters, that is also is rich in ethnic characteristics.
Zhanjiang has carried out tourism cooperation with northern Hainan since 2007. The northern Hainan area includes 10 cities and counties: Haikou, Qionghai, Wenchang, Wanning, Zhanzhou, Ding'an, Qiongzhong, Tunchang, Chengmai, and Lingao. The two sides have developed a number of tourism routes to create regional tourism brands. In addition, Zhanjiang and Liuzhou have formed a tourism cooperative relationship, planning and developing special tourist route products. Zhanjiang has organized tourists to visit Liuzhou, with more than 100,000 people visiting in 2018, and more than 50,000 people to date in 2019.
The promotion conference held by the three places aimed to explore the Greater Bay Area market, as well as further enhance exchanges and cooperation between the three regions and the tourism industry in the Greater Bay Area. It also aimed to promote the construction of Hainan International Tourism Island, as well as poverty alleviation cooperation between Guangdong and Guangxi.
