The China Eastern Airlines Mu705 flight departed from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport and was heading to Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Aug 28, marking the official opening of the Xi'an-Dubai route.
It is currently the first direct flight from Xi'an to the Middle East, making it convenient for tourists from Xi'an to travel to Dubai.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the flight departs from Xi'an at 9:55 pm and arrives in Dubai at 2:20 am. The return flight departs from Dubai at 4:20 am on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Xi'an at 4:25 pm.
Operated by an Airbus 330, it is the first aircraft in the Chinese mainland equipped with reverse herringbone seating, which allows passengers to have more private personal space during the flight.
In addition, it is equipped with an advanced personal entertainment system, as well as earphone holes, power interfaces, and reading lights, providing passengers with a comfortable flight experience.
In 2018, the number of Chinese tourists visiting Dubai reached 857,000, an increase of 12 percent. In the first half of this year, the number of Chinese tourists traveling to Dubai has exceeded 500,000.
Dubai has launched a series of measures to attract Chinese tourists, including a visa-free policy for Chinese tourists visiting Dubai.
The opening of the Xi'an-Dubai route has further connected the two places, which will enhance the exchanges between them along the Belt and Road in tourism, economy, trade, and culture, while also bringing more travel choices to passengers from both countries.
