China will host the Global Lawyers Forum from Dec 9 to 10 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, the All China Lawyers Association said on Tuesday.
The forum, supported by the Ministry of Justice, aims to deepen exchanges and cooperation among lawyers around the world, consolidate legal consensus, provide a platform for global legal partnership, and further strengthen mutual learning between legal professionals in China and the rest of the world.
With the theme of "Scientific and Technological Progress and Legal Services", the forum is expected to attract more than 600 lawyers, judicial officials and experts from around the world, said Wang Junfeng, the association's president.
It will cover topics including legal services related to the Belt and Road Initiative, science and technology, cross-border investment, international trade and compliance, international commercial dispute resolution, public legal services and social responsibility, Wang said.
With the continuous promotion of China's all-around opening-up and the in-depth implementation of national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, Chinese enterprises were speeding up the pace of overseas expansion, which was increasing demand for international legal affairs services and professional lawyers, Wang said.
The Ministry of Justice and the association have sent over 70 invitations to top judicial officials in other countries, international lawyers' organizations and national bar associations, with most having expressed interest or confirmed their participation. Lawyers from 35 domestic law firms with expertise in international legal affairs will also attend the forum.
