Rick Stephen, the continental director for Asia for the WACS, was invited as the general adviser, and more than 20 judges from China, Australia, the United States, Mexico, South Korea, Nepal, Japan and other countries with international certification sat on the judging panel.
For the first time, the event featured both team and individual competitions. Participants were required to complete prescribed dishes within a specified time. The dishes had to be creative and nutritious, and also highlight international standards and Chinese characteristics in taste, texture, appearance and other aspects.
