Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing municipality signed agreements with Tencent to further the big data and smart tech industries at the opening ceremony of Tencent's Southwest China headquarters in Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park on Aug 25.
The headquarters project was signed at the first Smart China Expo in 2018. It spans 24 floors covering about 30,000 square meters of building areas.
Over the past year, Tencent has had deep cooperation with Chongqing in creating the urban culture labels, digitizing local enterprises, constructing smart cities, and cultivating local talents.
Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing Yuelai Group, and Tencent will make joint efforts on the construction of the digital culture industrial park, with the integration of a good development environment, industrial foundations, and smart technologies.
In addition, the cloud industrial base of Tencent will be launched in the industrial park to promote the development of smart cities and smart exhibitions. Cooperation will also be reached on e-sports tournaments.
Based on Tencent's advantages on mapping, social platforms and big data, an Internet Plus smart platform will be established to improve the management and assessments of infrastructures and public transportation services.
The cooperation with Tencent is expected to bolster Liangjiang New Area's efforts in reaching its goal of building a smart city by 2020.
