The Fourth People’s Hospital of Chongqing

The Fourth People's Hospital of Chongqing, also functioning as Chongqing Emergency Medical Center, has also been known as the Central Hospital of Chongqing University since October 2017.

The hospital, set up in 1939 as Zhongzheng Hospital, gained its current name in 1954 and was approved as a national 3A-grade comprehensive hospital in 1995. The hospital offers first aid, medical treatment, scientific research, teaching and disease prevention.

It employs 1,431 staff members, with 196 holding senior titles, 224 having master’s or doctoral degrees and eight enjoying the special allowance from the State Council. The hospital has an overall building area of 102,000 square meters and has 1,200 patient beds, 36 clinical departments and 46 specialized disease outpatient departments.

The department of emergency medicine is listed as a national clinical key specialty, the departments of traumatic surgery and pre-hospital emergency medicine are municipal key medical specialties and six other departments, including critical care, cardiovascular medicine, neurosurgery and clinical nursing, are municipal clinical key specialties.

The hospital has a range of advanced medical facilities such as two 64-set 128-row spiral CTs, two 1.5T MRIs, two fully digital plate cardiovascular imaging machines, two operating microscopes, dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry and an automatic biochemical analysis pipeline. In 2015, the hospital established the first intelligent pharmacy in Southwest China.

It has established deep cooperation with medical institutions in countries such as the United States, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
