Shanghai's top 100 companies registered total revenue of over 6.9 trillion yuan ($980 billion) in 2018, up 13.3 percent year-on-year, data showed.
The companies gained a net profit of 443.3 billion yuan during the period, up 11.4 percent year-on-year, according to the top 100 list published Monday by the Shanghai Enterprise Confederation, Shanghai Federation of Economic Organization and Jiefang Daily.
The list showed that a record 21 firms have registered a revenue of over 100 billion yuan last year, including three private companies.
Earlier this month, China expanded the Shanghai free trade zone to build the new Lingang area into a special economic function zone with global influence and competitiveness.
