The National Meteorological Center (NMC) on Aug 17 renewed a yellow alert for high temperatures for several regions in China.
Some parts of South China, Southwest China, Shaanxi, Xinjiang and the western part of the Yangtze River and Huaihe River will see temperatures rise above 35 C, the NMC said on its website.
Temperatures in some provinces including Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Guizhou, Sichuan and Chongqing may reach up to 39 C.
The public should reduce outdoor activities, and local authorities should take precautions against fires that may be caused by excessive power loads, the center warned.
China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
