Deepen cooperation in scientific and technological innovation

Editor's Note: According to the development planning of the Beibu Gulf urban cluster released by the State Council in February 2017, the region is expected to be deeply involved in China-ASEAN cooperation.

Focusing on key technical fields such as information technology, marine technology, high-speed rail, and agriculture, the area is expected to innovate models of scientific and technological exchange, as well as expand cooperation with ASEAN countries. The two sides will jointly establish research and development institutions, demonstration zones, and united laboratories, as well as the China-ASEAN Technology Transfer Center to promote two-way technology transfers and the commercialization of research findings.

Both sides will team up to carry out marine comprehensive investigation and research into the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. In addition, domestic scientific research institutions and innovative platforms are encouraged to set up branches overseas.
