Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, set up in 1950 during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), is a high-level teaching and research university with a high reputation in the field of information and communications.
Located in Chongqing's Nanshan Mountain scenic area, the university offers a splendid campus environment. It covers 253 hectares and a building area of 680,000 square meters. Its library had 6.94 million books by the end of November 2018. The university also has the biggest cloud data center in China.
Currently the university has about 24,000 students including 3,400 postgraduate students. It employs 1,700 staff members, with 730 holding senior titles. It also employs over 30 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering along with 150 prestigious experts from countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Poland and India.
After over 60 years' of development, the university has cultivated over 100,000 talents in different fields.
The university has set up 16 departments and 56 undergraduate programs covering fields such as engineering, science, economics, management, literature, art and law, with five of these majors listed as national distinctive majors.
It has carried out international cooperation and communication with over 40 universities from countries and regions such as the US, the UK, Canada, France, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macao. The university also enrolls about 400 international students every year.
