Ciqikou (磁器口) is an old town preserved in sprawling modern Chongqing. It is about an hour's drive from downtown Chongqing. It is an old sleepy town built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Although it is preserved as a tourist town, visitors don't have to pay admission to get in.
The number one choice for tourists to visit in Chongqing is Liberation Monument, or rather, the plaza where it stands. It is the equivalent of Times Square in New York, surrounded by flashy neon signs, giant billboards, and name-brand retailers.
Guanyinqiao Pedestrian Street, or literally Bodhisattva Bridge, is Chongqing's northern economic and cultural center.
