Tests taken at the Guangdong TCM Hospital Zhuhai are now recognized by thousands of medical laboratories in dozens of countries and regions, saving international patients from redundant examinations.
The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment has presented the Accreditation Certificate to the hospital's ISO15189 Medical Laboratory, whose plaque was unveiled on July 29 at the facility on Jingle Road in Jida.
ISO15189 refers to requirements by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) for medical laboratories in quality and competence. Only those in accordance with its quality management system and able to provide correct technical results qualify.
An expert panel led by director Guo Jian from Beijing Hospital of the Ministry of Health had conducted a three-day on-site review of the Clinical Laboratory. All 96 items and seven authorized signatories involved passed the evaluation.
The traditional Chinese medicine hospital used to be the Zhuhai TCM Hospital, established in 1987. It became a national third-grade class-A TCM hospital in 1996 and turned into a provincial demonstration TCM hospital in October 2000.
