Ningxia Zhongwei wins battle against desertification

"No one could forecast how long it could keep working because it was often covered by sand," recalled Zhang Kezhi, former head of the Ningxia Zhongwei sand-fixation forest farm in Ningxia Hui autonomous region.
Some foreign experts claimed it wouldn't last longer than 30 years before being swallowed by the desert, Zhang said.
Local people started to fight against the boundless desert and made remarkable achievements.
