Police across Guangdong province pledged to fully invest in efforts to fight crime and ensure the safety and stability of social order for the country to celebrate this year's 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in October.
He Zhongyou, a member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, said the 70th anniversary celebration is an important event for the country, and police in Guangdong province should have the determination and ability to ensure and maintain social order for the celebration. He is also secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.
He urged police officers in the southern province, known as the southern gateway of the country and a key example of China's reform and opening up, to do what they can to fight against any crime that may damage the celebration in the coming months.
He made the remarks at an oath-taking rally for security personnel safeguarding the 70th anniversary celebration. He also spoke at the opening ceremony of a summer training camp for the province's police officers held in this Pearl River delta city on Tuesday.
"Guangdong police have played an important role in the province's reform and opening up drive and contributed to Guangdong's economic development and social stability in the previous years," he said.
Li Chunsheng, vice-governor and director-general of Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security, led the oath-taking during the ceremony, in which senior major Party and government officials participated, as well as top police officers from 21 prefecture-level cities in Guangdong province.
