The State Council approved setting up an inter-ministerial joint conference on promoting consumption on July 23.
The duty of the conference is to coordinate efforts to expand and upgrade personal consumption, strengthen supervision and analysis of consumption trends, propose suggestions for consumption-related policies, and plan annual key work.
The conference will be led by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), which submitted the proposal.
The joint conference will be composed of 26 ministries and departments, including the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and the People's Bank of China.
Its office, located at NDRC, will be in charge of the regular work.
The joint conference should hold meetings as needed, record the minutes, and deliver the printed minutes to related departments. Important items should be reported to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council.
He Lifeng, head of NDRC, was appointed as the convener of the conference.
