Bright prospects remain for Fujian and Taiwan to expand cooperation in the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, said Zhang Zhinan, executive vice governor of the Fujian Provincial People's Government.
Zhang made the remark at a press conference in Beijing on July 19, saying that Fujian will further collaborate with Taiwan in the sector.
Fujian has been devoted to developing NEVs in recent years. An integrated industrial chain has been mostly formed, with its power batteries and new energy bus technology leading the country.
The partnership is on solid footing, Zhang added, noting that Fujian has advantages in production, research and communication, while Taiwan is stronger when it comes to semiconductors, integrated chips and photo electricity.
The automotive parts produced in Taiwan are popular in the international market. At present, more than 50 Taiwan-funded automotive part enterprises partnered with Southeast Motor, he said, expressing hope that Fujian-Taiwan cooperation will be strengthened in regard to engines, electrical signal equipment, automatic transmission control systems and chassis systems.
Zhang also urged increased cooperation in key technologies, promoting the commercial use of hydrogen fuel cells, intelligent systems for driverless vehicles and vehicle terminal systems.
