Activity for left-behind children held in Shenzhen

The launching ceremony for the activity for left-behind children of sanitation workers in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province was held at the mountaintop square of Lianhua Hill on July 16.

Jointly organized by the Shenzhen municipal bureau of comprehensive administrative law enforcement for urban management and the Beautiful Shenzhen Public Welfare Foundation, the activity aimed to show loving care for the sanitation worker families and encourage their children to study hard, make positive progress, and contribute to society.

More than 700 sanitation workers and their children who were left behind in rural areas took part in the activity.

A grant of 2,000 yuan ($290.80) was offered by the Beautiful Shenzhen Public Welfare Foundation to every child. In addition, the children enjoyed a free tour of Lianhua Hill Park and Shenzhen Ocean World.

This year's activity is the fourth one of its kind. A total of 1,382 left-behind children participated in the activity in the first three years.

In addition, different districts in the city also held parent-child activities for sanitation workers and their children.

Fushan district organized a technological and scientific tour of unmanned aerial vehicles and a 3D printing experience, while Nanshan district invited children to play around Shenzhen Happy Valley.

Activities, including visiting Shenzhen Wildlife Park, book donations, and family reunion dinners, were held by Longgang district for left-behind children who reunited with their parents during the summer vacation.

Children were organized by Guangming new district to visit Shenzhen Children's Palace or the Shenzhen Children's Museum of Science and Technology, as well as the Shenzhen Reform and Opening-Up Exhibition Hall.
