According to a mid-year working conference held in Nanning on July 17, the total import and export of Guangxi's foreign trade grew by a year-on-year increase of 24.8 percent in the first half of the year.
From January to May, Guangxi's general trade import and export increased by 70.1 percent year-on-year. Imports and exports to the EU and Hong Kong increased by 1.5 times and 71.6 percent respectively, imports and exports to ASEAN countries increased by 13 percent, while the imports and exports with the Belt and Road countries and regions increased by 18.4 percent.
Lu Xinshe, Party secretary of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, stressed at the working conference that Guangxi is welcoming a new round of major development opportunities.
Guangxi will speed up the interconnection and exchange of infrastructure with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, strengthen the industrial chain connection with the Greater Bay Area, as well as seek cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, making every effort to promote the landing of major cooperation projects.
Guangxi will accelerate the construction of major projects on the New Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the west. It will promote the cooperation between Beibu Gulf Port, China COSCO Shipping Co, and Singapore International Port Group to build important national hub ports in Guangxi.
In addition, Guangxi will take the opportunity of building the financial opening gateway for ASEAN to further improve cross-border financial infrastructure, as well as exchange and cooperation mechanisms.
