The prestigious Oxford University joined hands with Changzhou in Jiangsu province on July 9, unveiling an innovation technology transfer company -- Oxford University Innovation Technology Transfer (Changzhou) Co -- at the city's science and education hub.
Chen Zhaoxuan, director of innovation technology transfer affairs at Oxford, said the company, combined with Oxford's Suzhou Center for Advanced Research, would make the venerated UK institution's industry-university-research activities in China more complete and interconnected.
Chen said it would see Oxford stepping out of the campus and embracing the market, bridging the gap between high-tech companies from the two countries.
The company comes in the wake of Isis Changzhou International Technology Transfer Centre Co, the first official technology transfer branch of Oxford established in 2012.
Gareth Taylor, consul of science and innovation at the British Consulate-General in Shanghai, lauded policies currently in place facilitating Sino-British cooperation. Several companies which have worked with Oxford also conducted presentations at the company's launch ceremony.
