Jinli Ancient Street in Sichuan's Chengdu, as a part of Wuhou Memorial Temple, covers more than 30,000 square meters with a building area of over 14,000 sq m. The ancient street runs for 550 meters.
Integrating tourism, shopping, relaxation and entertainment, Jinli Ancient Street is a must-see tourist attraction and one of the most bustling areas for people who love shopping.
Featuring the cultural elements of the Three Kingdoms (220-280 AD) and local folk culture, the first phase of Jinli Ancient Street was opened in October 2004 while the second phase was put into operation before the Spring Festival in 2009.
Legend has it that Jinli Ancient Street was the oldest and most commercial street in the west of Shu Kingdom (221-263) and has enjoyed great fame since the Qin and Han Dynasties (221 BC-220 AD).
Various kinds of themed hotels, restaurants and shops are located along the street. In addition, folklore performances showcasing traditional Sichuan cultural elements such as music, drama and traditional wedding shows are also staged to allow visitors to get a close look at the local culture.
Visitors can also get a taste of local delicacies such as buckwheat noodles, Zhangfei Beef and sandapao, a Chengdu snack.
