A cutting-edge Sinopec petrol station on Changchun Road in Jilin city, Northeast China’s Jilin province, now offers 5G network coverage – the first of its kind in the province.
The initiative was jointly launched by Sinopec Group Jilin Branch, China Mobile Jilin Branch and Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.
The network transmission speed is 100 times faster than what was formerly available, an employee at the petrol station said.
It currently takes only 2-3 seconds to upload transaction data or invoice data, much faster than 40 seconds previously, which greatly improves work efficiency, according to staff.
Jilin provincial government is committed to offering full digital infrastructure across the province, and the installation of the new technology forms part of its strategy.
Based on 5G technology, China Mobile Jilin Branch will work with Sinopec Group Jilin Branch, to develop services such as refueling appointments and facial recognition, with the aim of driving forward the province’s development of smart petrol stations.
