Nanning companies compete in innovation and entrepreneurship competition

A total of 378 companies have signed up for the 4th Nanning Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, a year-on-year increase of 34 percent, including 263 in the growth group and 115 in the start-up group categories. Following an examination process, 225 enterprises were confirmed entry.

Participating projects in the competition mostly belong to the internet industry, accounting for 30 percent of the total competitors. Others include electronic information, biomedicine, new energy and energy saving, advanced manufacturing, as well as new materials. In addition, a number of high-tech projects focusing on people's livelihoods also emerged, such as earthquake disaster detection and early warning system, road traffic integrated monitoring system, thalassemia screening and control genomics, as well as organic waste collaborative management.

The preliminary competition will feature 30 review experts from six major industries that will select 60 percent of the total participating projects for the semi-final, which will be held at the Nanning Science and Technology Enterprise Incubation Base on July 23-24. The organizing committee of the competition will also hold a public training before the semi-final on July 19 to help contestants improve their presentations.

The competition's final will be held on July 29. The 24 companies that have entered the finals will not only receive policy innovations, training, and counseling, but also compete for 20 final prizes and share 1 million yuan in cash prizes. Companies that rank in the top places in the competition can also take part in the semi-final of the 8th China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (Guangxi division) on behalf of Nanning.
