The new Subway Line 2 in Xiamen, in eastern Fujian province, started a three-month passenger-free test on July 12, according to local media.

A total of 30 subway trains were put into test operations, with 25 trains running at peak hours.

The 41.64-kilometer line runs from Tianzhu Mountain in Haicang district to Wuyuan Bay in Huli district and includes 32 stops.

During the tests, a series of checks will be carried out to make sure the trains run smoothly.

Based on its experience building Xiamen Subway Line 1, every link from design to construction of line 2 has been updated and improved, according to the Xiamen Rail Transit Group.

Xiamen Subway Line 2 is scheduled to open to the public at the end of this year.
