The 16th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) Country of Honor Press Conference and the CAEXPO Indonesia Exhibition 2019 were held in Jakarta, Indonesia on July 11.
The 16th CAEXPO will be held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Sept 20 to 23, and Indonesia will act as the Country of Honor for the second time in the expo's history. Indonesian leaders will head a delegation to attend CAEXPO and participate in a series of important events.
Yang Yanyan, vice secretary general of the CAEXPO Secretariat, said at the press conference that Indonesia is major point of the 21st Century Marine Silk Road and the Belt and Road, which has rapidly increased trade and economic cooperation with China in recent years.
Indonesia has reaped good trade and economic outcomes at CAEXPO. Over the past 15 sessions, thousands of Indonesian enterprises have participated in the expo, using more than 1,800 booths. During last year’s CAEXPO, the on-site Indonesian commodity pavilion’s on-site trading volume increased by three times as much as the year before. More innovative products will be shown at the upcoming 16th CAEXPO, helping Indonesia bring in more high-end technologies and accelerate economic development.
At the CAEXPO Indonesia Exhibition 2019 opening ceremony, Marolop Nainggolan, director of the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED) under the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, said that it is of great significance for Indonesia to act as the CAEXPO Country of Honor for the second time, as Indonesia is the largest economy in ASEAN and an important member of the G20.
This year, Indonesia will use an independent exhibition hall to showcase its distinctive products, such as handicrafts, wood furniture, food, and textiles. It will also introduce investment and trade information and services in mining, as well as other sectors.
In addition, Indonesia will host diversified investment and trade promotion activities, including high-end talks, project and trade matching meetings, as well as industrial parks promotion conferences. It is estimated that the number of Indonesian exhibitors and trade visitors to the upcoming CAEXPO will reach 1,000.
