Shanghai's Huangpu River was dotted with 15 white sailboats on Thursday morning as they sailed across the river to celebrate the 15th Maritime Day, which fell on July 11.
After cruising around the river, the sailboats returned to their west side start point, the international passenger transport center in Hongkou district.
A series of activities were held on the day, including maritime lectures, maritime culture experience, and a display of Chinese aircraft Liaoning at the People's Square metro station.
The celebration culminated with the Yangtze River Delta Shipping Integration Development Forum, during which Shanghai was named fourth among 43 international shipping centers, following Singapore, Hong Kong and London, according to the Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index published on Thursday.
