East China's Zhejiang province issued an action plan for the construction and application of the "City Brain" system recently, aiming to deepen integration of new information technology and modern city governance.
The "City Brain", initiated in Hangzhou by Alibaba Group's cloud computing arm Alibaba Cloud in 2017, is an intelligent system which leverages the advanced technologies of big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence to bring about better social governance.
The provincial government is eager to implement the system across the entire province. The system is expected to bolster the digital development of the province's economy, social affairs and government services and is considered a significant step forward in the building of a "digital Zhejiang".
According to the action plan, a general interconnected platform for the "City Brain" system will be built in all cities, counties and districts of Zhejiang by 2022 in a bid to facilitate resource and data sharing. A group of the system's applications in the fields of traffic, public security, city governance, economy, healthcare, environmental protection, culture and tourism are expected to be implemented within three years.
The plan also stated that by 2035, the system should be producing significant results which will greatly improve the efficiency of city operation in Zhejiang. The province hopes to serve as a valuable example for the nationwide application of the "City Brain" system.
