Zhoushan builds healthcare center for remote islands

Zhoushan, an island city in East China's Zhejiang province, has launched a project to build healthcare centers on 20 of its remote islands this year, with the first one launched on Dongxiezhi Island on July 9. 

The project, involving a planned investment amount of 4 million yuan ($581,000), is intended to improve healthcare services on these islands where there were previously no healthcare centers. 

The newly-built healthcare center is equipped with a complete set of medical devices, such as blood pressure and blood sugar measuring instruments, as well as some first-aid devices.

In addition, a remote video system is in place that supports online consultation from medical experts from the city's large hospitals.
