A freighter loaded with imports of frozen seafood from India and Malaysia arrived at Zhanjiang Port on July 8, marking the opening of the first Indian and Malaysian direct cold chain express line in Zhanjiang.
The cold chain express line was opened by Wanhai Lines Ltd and Interasia Line Co with six 4,300-4,680 TEU ships put into operation. The freighters stop along Cochin Port, Nhava Sheva Port, and Tuticorin Port in India, as well as Penang Port and Port Kelang in Malaysia. The cold chain express line can save customers logistics costs by about $100 per standard box. In addition, the transportation time is shortened by seven to 12 days.
The cold chain express line will not only meet the rapidly growing raw material import demand of Zhanjiang's aquatic products enterprises to better serve the local and regional economic development, but also help local enterprises, as well as upstream and downstream enterprises, in the supply chain to expand their markets in South Asia and ASEAN countries.
