The Voice of Wanquanhe, a chorus from Qionghai, Hainan province, won a silver medal at the 11th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival, which was held in Wernigerode, Germany.
A total of 45 teams from 17 countries and regions participated in the event.
The International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival is a biennial event and has been held for 20 years. This year, the organizing committee invited professional chorus teams to participate in the competition and top chorus experts across the world to be the judges. It is an internationally recognized event known for its professionalism and high standards.
In addition to taking part in the competition, the Qionghai chorus also performed at two concerts and a music parade event where they had in-depth exchanges with other participating choruses.
"This is the first time we have gone abroad to study with foreign chorus teams. It is very meaningful. Everyone was full of expectations. We have learned a lot of distinctive chorus forms and techniques," said Zhang Taibin, a member of the Voice of Wanquanhe.
The chorus was established in 2015 and currently has 50 members, including music teachers and music lovers in primary and secondary schools in Qionghai. The team has claimed a number of prizes at competitions in China.
