This year, relic and museum tourism has become a new holiday bright spot in the coastal area of Tianjin, where increased numbers of visitors are being tracked due to the field's higher profile.

A total of 0.92 million tourists went to seven monitored scenic spots in the first half of this year, according to information from the city's construction authorities.

Revenue from tourism rose to approximately 0.12 billion yuan ($17.47 million), with a year-on- year growth of 21.43 percent. These results stem from the fruitful plan made by the leaders of Binhai New Area.

Various kinds of cultural tourism activities catering to different tastes have been launched by the local culture and tourism bureau.

There are three most magnetic draws: Teda Aircraft Carrier Theme Park, Haichang Polar Ocean World, and Fantawild Adventure, all of which emphasize the outstanding marine feature of Tianjin and attract large numbers of visitors.

National Maritime Museum, which began operation as a trial this year, has been a magnet for tourists across the country. On the opening of the reservation system in April 28th, more than a million people tried to register, and found it hard to do so during the May Day and Dragon Boat Festival holidays.

The Library of Binhai New Area has been called the most beautiful library since it first opened. This year, its "musical library" has come online, with a database of 520 thousand singles and more than 1000 CDs or SACDs, offering readers high-quality musical resources.

Self-driving travel is now an important part of leisure and recreation for Chinese families. Tourists from nearby regions are apt to drive by themselves, and family trips have become their most favored way.

"We are devoted to further optimizing the tourist environment, increasing publicity efforts, and enriching the range of products as a next step so that the coastal area can be fostered as the destination of ocean city tours," said a responsible person from the new area's Bureau of Cultural Tourism.
