Nantong Xingdong International Airport reported a year-on-year growth of 19.98 percent in throughput for the first half of this year, with the total amount of passengers reaching 1.6 million.
The airport is currently operating 36 airlines to 46 cities, with 706 flights each week.
With peak summer season starting on July 1, the airport has planned to open more flights to hot tourist destinations, such as Guilin in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, Qingdao in Shandong province, and Zhangjiajie in Hunan province.
In addition, an airline connecting Nantong and Seoul in South Korea will start operating on August 1. It will be run by Jeju Air each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
