According to customs statistics, 1.17 million tons of chemical fertilizers were imported and exported through Zhangjiang Port from January to May, an increase of 34.6 percent year-on-year, accounting for 7.3 percent of the total import and export of fertilizers nationwide. The total value reached 2.87 billion yuan ($416.79 million), a year-on-year increase of 53 percent.

Zhanjiang Customs has supported the development of the bonded processing business of compound fertilizers, as well as implemented post-declaration policies to promote the rapid development of chemical fertilizer bonded warehousing and logistics.
Zhanjiang Customs has continuously optimized the customs clearance environment, abolished paper approval documents, as well as implemented electronic payment for taxes and fees to reduce customs clearance time. It also improved informatization level to realize data sharing between bonded places, regulatory clearance systems, and port card systems, providing automatically comparison of electronic information to greatly improve the regulatory effectiveness of chemical fertilizer cargo.
In addition, Zhanjiang Customs has explored business linkages with the special supervision areas and bonded supervision places in southwest China. It has conducted one-to-one counseling for key enterprises, and created a green channel for fertilizer transfer. In addition, it coordinated with the port department to scientifically dispatch ships and reduce the waiting time at the ports.
