Suzhou New District greenlighted to build base for overseas professionals

Suzhou New District is among the first 10 national development zones to build a provincial offshore innovation and entrepreneurial base for overseas professionals, according to the provincial association for science and technology on July 6. 

With the green light to build a provincial base for overseas professionals, Suzhou New District will increase its efforts in attracting overseas talents, building incubation platforms, accelerating technology transfers, as well as improving the enterprise service and business environment.

Via road shows, summit forums, and match-making events, Suzhou New District will familiarize overseas talents with the district's entrepreneurial and investment environment, speed up the localization and development of foreign-invested projects, as well as bring about the cross-border exchanges of innovative resources.

Offshore innovation and entrepreneurship for overseas professional has consistently been a priority for Suzhou New District who was granted approval to build two municipal bases in 2018.

Since then, six overseas roadshows consisting of some 40 projects have been well received in six countries, attracting participants from the University of Melbourne, the University of Oxford, and other institutions. The most focused projects are in the fields of medical equipment, smart manufacturing, and information technology.
