Lanzhou Silk Road Festival

Lanzhou Silk Road Festival was founded on 1992, and held annually ever since. The Silk Road was a route that linked central Asia, with west Asia and Europe in the 2 AD for trade and friendly exchanges.

During the festival, specially organized tour of Dunhuang would be included. It starts from Lanzhou, along Qilian Mountain to the west, and passes through Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiuquan, Jiayuguan, and finally arrives in Dunhuang. The scenery alongside is quite spectacular, visitors can also climb sandy hills and enjoy themselves.

With the theme of "openness, friendship and development", the festival integrates culture, tourism, trade, science and technology exchanges, and takes science and technology, economic and trade exchanges as the main focus. During the festival, various kinds of commodity fairs are arranged. Famous, excellent, local and special products are gathered together, and high-tech achievements are also presented, which adds new colors and charms to Lanzhou.

Lanzhou Investment & Trade Fair

The Lanzhou Investment & Trade Fair is one of the major trade and investment fairs in western China.

First held in 1993, in recent years this annual event has developed into a large-scale international and professional exposition and an important vehicle for Gansu and Lanzhou to attract investment as well as being a window into the opening up of west China.

In June 2012, the fair was officially upgraded to be a national-level event.

As the leading and most successful economic and trade event in Gansu, the fair accelerates multi-level, wide-range, all-round cooperation and exchanges between regions, industries and enterprises, and effectively promotes the province's economic and social development.

The 25th session was successfully held in Lanzhou from July 4 to 8, 2019.

It was divided into five exhibition areas by industrial sector, specifically: the Silk Road International Cooperation Exhibition Area, the Provincial and Municipal Investment and Cooperation Exhibition Area, the Green Ecological Industry Exhibition Area, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation & Science and Technology Achievements Exhibition Area, and the Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Equipment Exhibition Area.

Lanzhou International Marathon

Founded in 2011, Lanzhou International Marathon is a joint event sponsored by the Chinese Athletics Association, the Sport Bureau of Gansu and Lanzhou Municipal People's Government.

It has been held over eight consecutive years, with the IAAF affirming it as an International Gold Label Road Race event.

The marathon is international in scope with the largest scale and the most participants for any such event organized in Lanzhou, Gansu province, and has considerable influence both at home and abroad.

The course the marathon traces is set along the "Yellow River Custom Tourist Line" (Beibinghe Road), a tourist route which Lanzhou has developed over many years. Participants can experience the unique natural ecological landscape along the Yellow River during the race.
