Chongqing Medical University (CQMU) is a renowned public medical university jointly administered by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health and the municipal government. The university boasts a comprehensive academic training system for undergraduates, postgraduates, and above.
Covering 177 hectares, CQMU consists of 21 schools and departments distributed on University Town Campus and Jinyun Campus. The campuses are home to about 26,000 students, including about 6,000 postgraduates, and over 700 international students from 20 countries.
CQMU has over 2,200 faculty members, of whom about 1,300 have senior titles. The university has four State-level key disciplines, 76 municipal key disciplines and 44 research institutes, all of which are at national or municipal levels.
The university has nine directly affiliated hospitals, 20 non-directly affiliated hospitals, and 30 training centers in Chongqing, Sichuan, Shenzhen and other regions.
CQMU has made breakthroughs in various fields, including High-intensity Focused Ultrasonic Therapy System (HIFU), which was the first large medical equipment independently developed in China. The system has been applied in over 1,000 Chinese hospitals and exported to over 10 countries and regions, including the UK, Japan, South Korea and Singapore.
The university has forged sound partnerships with 44 universities or healthcare institutions across the world, including Dartmouth College, University of British Columbia, and University College London.
