An activity was held in Guangzhou from June 30 to July 1 to showcase the inheritance and development of Cantonese Opera culture at universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The Cantonese Opera Inheritance Series of College Students in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao included thematic lectures, conferences, forums, exhibitions of educational achievements of Cantonese Opera and opera shows staged by university students in the Greater Bay Area.

Leung Bo-Wah, director of Research Center for Transmission of Cantonese Opera at the Education University of Hong Kong, said that strengthening cultural confidence and enhancing cultural identity is one of the major projects to focus on. He hoped to further utilize the advantages of cultural bonds between Guangdong and Hong Kong, to promote inheritance of Cantonese Opera, carry out scientific research on Cantonese Opera, jointly organize activities such as art exhibitions, academic seminars and scientific research, and devote to the protection, inheritance and development of Cantonese Opera as a whole.

During the event, the Cantonese Opera Inheritance Base of Xinghai Conservatory of Music signed cooperative agreements with Research Center for Transmission of Cantonese Opera at the Education University of Hong Kong, the College of Liberal Arts of Jinan University and Luobian Primary School in Panyu District. The inheritance base also launched its off-campus Cantonese Opera experience center, on-campus Cantonese Opera workshops and off-campus practice and communication platform during the event to promote all-round and systematic integration of Guangdong Opera into school education.
In September and December this year, the Cantonese Opera Heritage Base of Xinghai Conservatory of Music is slated to send artists to perform on stage at the Xiqu Center in West Kowloon, Hong Kong and engage in a special show in Guangzhou with the Hong Kong Association of Cantonese Opera Scholars.
