The opening ceremony for the 10th China-Mongolia Media Forum was held in Ordos, a city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, on July 4.
As an annual event that began in 2010, the China-Mongolia Media Forum remains an important platform for media exchanges and cooperation between China and Mongolia.
Bai Yugang, the head of the publicity department of the Inner Mongolian regional Party committee, said at the opening ceremony that in the past ten years, media in China and Mongolia have signed nearly 30 cooperation agreements and work plans and jointly planned and carried out over 120 cooperation projects and activities. Also, more than 860 Mongolian journalists have traveled to Inner Mongolia and other provinces throughout China for interviews.
Bai said that the main purpose of media cooperation between the two sides is to promote friendly relations between China and Mongolia, develop the media sectors in both countries, explore new areas and directions of cooperation, and encourage and support local media to cooperate with each other.
According to local media reports, Inner Mongolia plans to invite 50 Mongolian journalists to Inner Mongolia and other provinces in China every year. In addition, 20 young Mongolian core media members are expected to study and participate in exchange activities in Inner Mongolia.
Ten young people and media personnel from Mongolia will be admitted to undergraduate and master's programs in journalism and communications at Inner Mongolian universities. Free translations of five Chinese films and TV shows will also be provided for Mongolian media.
