High-end equipment manufacturing industry

Equipment manufacturing plays a major role in Henan's industry. In 2016, equipment manufacturing companies above the designated size in Zhengzhou achieved an added-value of 38.5 billion yuan ($5.45 billion), responsible for 4.3 percent of the capital's economic growth. Driven by the "Made in China" 2025 strategy, Henan plans to upgrade its advanced sectors like power and mining equipment, accelerate the emerging ones such as numerical control machines, robots and energy conservation equipment and cultivate leading enterprises and research institutions. By the end of 2020, revenue of the enterprises above the designated size in the manufacturing industry is projected to reach 2 trillion yuan, with an annual growth rate of 11.5 percent.
