Magnificent mountain landscape greeted competitors in the 2019 Yanmen Cycle Classic, which concluded in Xinzhou in Shanxi province on June 30, with more than 1,000 cycling and outdoor sports enthusiasts taking part in the three-day event.
Athletes and amateurs from 15 countries and regions participated in art shows, mountain hiking, mountain cycling races and camping events amid extraordinary scenery in the Yanmen Pass scenic area. The Yanmen Pass, with its magnificent fortified gates, is rated as one of the three greatest passes of the Great Wall of China.
The highlight of the event was a two-day mountain cycling race whose track extended 120 kilometers across the Yanmen Pass scenic area and Ancient City of Daizhou, with altitudes ranging from a few hundred meters to almost 2,000 m.
In the women's and men's individual mountain cycling races, the fastest times for Chinese riders were recorded by Chen Ying and Zhu Jun, respectively.
