What:
Les Eaux et Forts (Water And Forest) is a French drama written by Marguerite Duras in 1965, a French novelist, screenwriter, scenarist, playwright, and film director.
The drama is about Zigou, Marguerite-Victoire Sénéchal's dog bites a passer-by on a zebra crossing. Nothing more trivial, in fact, and yet, like the famous fluttering of butterfly wings, it is an event likely to cause an epidemic, an apocalypse and the resurgence of a tragic news item.
This upheaval, Marguerite Duras makes a comedy that oscillates between Beckett and vaudeville. "We want to play with words, to massacre them, to kill them, to use them for something else and that's what I'm trying to do," says the author, about the Waters and Forests.
